Two People Rescued From Ditch In Lower Merion: Sources

Rescue crews were on the scene of a recovery effort in Montgomery County Wednesday, Feb. 23, after two people became trapped in a ditch, sources confirmed.

The incident began around 11:35 a.m.. on the 1200 block of Mt. Pleasant Road in Lower Merion Township, where the two male victims were buried up to the waist, Montgomery County Public Affairs Coordinator Todd Stieritz said.

A now-deleted Facebook post from the Lower Merion Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 2844 said the victims were construction workers who became trapped when a trench collapsed.

Both victims were removed around 12:40 p.m. and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, Stiertitz said.

The extent of their injuries was unknown.
